What to Expect

First and foremost, we at Proud Thai Massage hope that each client will feel welcome and valued. A massage should be a time of rejuvenation and result in a greater sense of well-being. Thai massage is a rather rigorous process with a good deal of stretching which requires the active participation of both client and therapist; there is a constant sense of rhythmic motion. One of the hallmarks of Thai massage is the therapist “walking” on the back of the client. Bars across the top of the room allow for the therapist to balance and gauge the pressure applied.

What to Expect

Unlike most other modalities, Thai massage generally is given with the client wearing both shirt and shorts, although the shirt is lifted if lotion or oil is applied. For Aromatherapy the client will undress and be draped with a sheet, except for the area on which work is being done. Shoes are to be left just outside the door; feet will be gently cleaned by the therapist. The clothing will be supplied; hooks and hangers for clothing will be positioned in each room. Soothing music will be made available.

After the massage session, time will be given for the client to dress. Hot tea or water will be offered. The client will then complete any necessary administration at the front desk. Envelopes will be available should the client deem the massage worthy of a gratuity.
